With the health care industry undergoing historic changes, understanding the latest trends — and what the future may hold — is essential. To further that goal, Camfil — the world’s leading provider of air filtration including HVAC replacement filters — is pleased to serve as a platinum sponsor of the 2015 Hospitals & Medical Facilities Summits. This is Camfil’s third consecutive year sponsoring these key industry events.

The series of five summits — taking place across the country during 2015 — will bring hospital and medical facilities executives together to discuss, learn, and share insights on key developments in the industry, and how health care facilities can be operated with greater efficiency — and greater performance.

“These summits are invaluable for understanding what the dramatic changes in the industry mean for health care facilities, and how costs can be saved while patient care is improved,” says Dave Blackwell, Health Care Segment Manager at Camfil USA, Inc. “The industry is changing rapidly, in new and unfamiliar ways. That’s why for Camfil, it is important to sponsor this series. We want to help show hospital executives how savings and performance can go hand in hand — particularly when it comes to clean air solutions.

Today’s hospitals are under increasing pressure both to contain costs and improve patient outcomes. New health care legislation, for example, has created greater transparency on hospital performance and more closely links reimbursements to patient outcomes. Patients can now access data showing how different medical facilities compare on hospital-acquired infections. Meanwhile, treatment required by such infections may not be covered by Medicare. So hospitals have an added incentive to make sure hospital-acquired infections don’t happen.

Keeping hospital air clean — and keeping infections at bay — has long been a priority for Camfil, which leverages a half dozen global research centers to produce a new generation of high performance, energy efficient air filters. Already, customers that have switched to Camfil filters have been able to reduce their HVAC energy costs by 20 percent, their installation costs by 50 percent, and their disposal costs by 70 percent.

“There are two huge benefits to optimizing air filtration,” says Blackwell. “You lower your costs by using less energy, and you improve indoor air quality by doing a better job removing harmful particles. Those are particularly big benefits for hospitals, because they bring improvements both to the bottom line and to patient care.”

As a sponsor of the Hospital & Medical Facilities Summits, Camfil will participate in a discussion panel entitled “Tips, Tricks & Traps to Avoid.” It’s an opportunity, says Blackwell, to share the company’s insight and best practices on optimizing air filtration.

The first 2015 summit, held in February at the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver, drew more than 100 health care professionals. Other summits will be held in Minneapolis (April 2), Boston (May 28), Nashville (June TBA), and New York (September 29).

“Each of these events will feature a high-level look at how hospitals can leverage design, technology, and operational solutions to perform more efficiently — and more effectively,” says Blackwell. “And Camfil will be there every step of the way, helping to get out the word.”
